A picture from a workshop ( we can see our tents .. ) this weekend .. A pure light around 'Lac de Peyre' in my area ( Haute savoie . France ) . 2100 m and already covered with fresh snow .
This is one of those photographs where you know, this shot couldn't have been taken at a better time. Every small detail contributes to the magnificence of the scene. Elating sunshine dappling the rock peaks, the mirror-like symmetry from the reflection on the waters surface and to conclude, a deep, dark sheet of ice receding in time with the sunlight. A stunning contrast of shade and colours that truly captures the beauty of the land. My only criticism, minor at best, would be the two tents at the centre-left of the photo. Quite honestly, I may not have noticed them if it wasn't stated in the description. The grey one even looks like a boulder. They, in no way, come close to having a negative impact on the shot but it takes away from the full nature experience a shot like this portrays. In any case, I bet you were cold sleeping there.
I think that this view works better than the horizontal take. In the vertical frame, the eye is drawn to the light and the reflection. The horizontal version draws the eye into shadows.
Love the water/sky/mountain interaction. Cropping out the left focuses the eye on the central mountain and water reflection. Tightly dynamic and expressive.
Beautiful photo. I love the vivid and bold colors. I especially like how the sunlight kisses the tops of the mountains. It looks like a cold place to camp though. Outstanding shot! Thanks for sharing.
