I love when a photographer plays around with lines and structures of nature. This can be rivers, trees, paths... you name it. Here the colors and of course the reflection makes this whole scene "pop" nicely. The shaded part of the foot adds a good shade to contrast and divides the scene into the 2 separate parts they are.
Often symetrical nature is hard to capture nicely, even with the help of water but here it's done with great punch-power and skill, good job!
This piece is featured in my journal this week and will stay for the next as well. [link]
You've captures Hexagram 41 from the I Ching, with 9 in the first place. Mountain over Lake becomes Mountain over Water (Hexagram 4). You can look it up with pictograms here: [link]
What strikes me about this photo is actually the LACK of symmetry after an initial apparent symmetry. After a moment of awe, you slowly realize that the reflection is rippling -- it's order/chaos/Tao. As your eye moves from the left to the right, following the dynamic energy of the composition, you see the human, the turtle (tent?), and finally, the black dot on the water that IS NOT a reflection. There is no dark shape on the hillside above it. It is the entry into the underworld.
Brilliant work -- I will enjoy watching your next posts.
