The Ancient world by alexandre-deschaumes The Ancient world by alexandre-deschaumes
From our latest workshop in the Alps. this view was done with 200 mm .. and slightly de saturated , with warm white balance .. giving the impression of an ominous gate towards another world . I've croped it Square and slightly darkened the scene.

A perfectly taken photograph. The level of detail of the mountains texture is fantastic. High level of contrast is found throughout the image which draws the eye to the centre of the image. The clouds at the top of the image seem to help to divide the sky while also allowing a dark contrasting area from the snow. Shadows from the clouds behind the photographer help to reflect the clouds at the top of the image and both of these elements together help to make a frame around the mountain.
Lines from the mountain draw the eye from the left to the central image while the lines on the right move up to the central point and lead out of the image, but due to the spiral, this is reversed, thus aiding in keeping the viewers eyes on the main focal point.
A magnificent piece of photography.

Beautiful work! And I totally get what you were aiming for. I wish the cloud cover extended farther upward, but your work still stuns me as is.

:) ~Kudos!

The mood is excellent and it looks very mysterious desaturated like this :D
It looks like it was split into three parts (clouds, mountain, darkness at the bottom), but maybe that's what you were going for?
It looks beautiful anyway

The contrast between the dark foreground/upper sky and the snowy peaks gives it an almost oppressive feel but this is countered by the sheer beauty of the mountain itself. If I wasn't an atheist I'd say the mountain gods were angry. Nice work.
