This is a View from the 'refuge du couvercle ' 2700 m towards the " mont blanc" in a very inspiring atmosphere .
The clouds were moving very fast ... At this moment I felt it was an interesting composition with all the clouds embracing the scene .. and creating a very dramatic light on the "devil's peak on the left.
I have seen many mountain pictures, but none really like this. It has a story, and the exposure is so good that you feel as if you too were on the mountain, looking at this masterpiece of nature. On one side, the gold and amber light caresses the mountain, and illuminates the clouds in such a breathtaking way that you are caught for a moment, I found I couldn't breathe. Then, on the left, the almost smoggy brown clouds create a mysterious, almost dangerous feeling, especially with the silhouette of the dark, sharp crags. In the middle, there is the smaller mountain, with the wind blowing the cloud over it, as if the wind were blowing snow, not cloud. This expresses such movement that it, only that, gives the entire picture a fantastic live feeling. Also, the light hitting that particular cloud draws your eye to the center, especially the 'dot' of light on the small mountain in the middle created by the shadow of (probably) other clouds. At the top middle of the picture, where the highest peak of the mountain is, there is also another gorgeous cloud, it hanging a bit over the peak. This gives the slight dimension of the unknown, for it is not exactly clear if the mountain might be a bit taller, so it makes you think. Not many pictures make you think. The colors in the picture are very, very good. The gold-white of the sunlight makes it feel liquid in it's own way, whereas the white and hard black of the mountain make it feel stable, so it sometimes feels as if the golden liquid waterfalls of wispy clouds are cascading down the sharp, black peaks of the mountains. All in all, this picture is by far one of the most beautiful, emotional, live and powerful landscape pictures I've seen yet on DevaintArt. Very, very well done, great clarity and vision, and captured at the perfect moment.
